Why didn't I think of this before?

So I follow Jane Espenson on Twitter. For those of you who don't know who she is (shame on you!) she's one of writers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I was messing around on Twitter, as I sometimes do, and I came across a countdown she was doing. She set a timer for two hours and planned to write - uninterrupted - for that time.

I like games. When I got my iPhone 4, I downloaded a bunch of them and I play all the time. If I can turn writing into a game, it will motivate me to do it.

I tested it out the other night on this new screenplay idea. I set the timer on my phone for two hours. I was able to pound out 17 pages! It's a first draft, so they aren't perfect, but they exist! I'm going to take this idea and run. :)
